The Jubilee Year 2025

The Jubilee Year, also known as the Holy Year, is a time of special grace, spiritual renewal, and mercy.

 

 

 

Our Catholic Church in 2025 celebrates this extraordinary occasion under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”, proclaimed by Pope Francis in the bull Spes non confundit (“Hope does not disappoint”) on May 9, 2024.

One of the main spiritual gifts of the Jubilee Year is the opportunity to obtain a plenary indulgence, especially through pilgrimages to designated Jubilee churches. A unique grace of this Jubilee is the possibility of receiving a plenary indulgence twice in one day—provided that the second one is offered for the souls in purgatory and includes full participation in the Holy Mass.

In Melbourne, one of such designated Jubilee Churches is the Divine Mercy Shrine in Keysborough, which is visited by numerous groups of pilgrims.
